The Board of Directors would like to thank all the Brethren and Visitors to the Knowle Masonic Centre for their donations to the Food Bank. The donations have increased, and we are very grateful for every item received.
All donations are taken to the Solihull Renewal Centre on Lode Lane, which are then distributed to families across the Solihull borough.
For the first time The Community Fund donation was increased to £650. The Centre asked for support for a Christmas Toy donation, so £150 was donated along with the annual donation of £500.
I also contacted W Bro Andrew Staker, ProvGChStwd who arranged fund matching from Provincial Grand Lodge for an additional £650.
The Community and Catering Director Craig Thompson arranged the food purchase and delivered it to the renewal centre on our behalf.
David Wright Chairman is in the photo handing over the £650 price matching cheque to Naomi, the Representative of the Renewal Centre.
Please continue to leave items in the basket in the lobby. Foodbank deliveries are required all year round. I have emptied the basket today and took the contents which filled the boot of my car.
We should all celebrate our efforts.
SOLIHULL LODGE NEWS ITEM – NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2024
Â
At the Regular Meeting of Solihull Lodge 8088 held on 18th November 2024, the Brethren welcomed W. Bro. Mark Thomas, the Provincial Grand Learning and Development Officer and W. Bro. Mark Dickens PProvSGD, our newly appointed Visiting Officer.
Â
W. Bro. Thomas gave two Orations, the first being on the subject of the meanings and historical origins of the Proper Preparations of Candidates for Initiation and the second was about the historical origins and significances of the Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, Master Mason and Installed Master Aprons that are worn in Lodge.
Â
Both Orations were very interesting, educational and entertaining. It was evident that W. Bro. Thomas had made a large effort in preparing them and the Brethren made more than a few Advancements in Masonic Knowledge from the material he presented in the Orations.
Â
W. Bro. Dickens introduced himself and said his appointment as Visiting Officer was only from the 14th November, he was new to the role and Solihull Lodge was the first one that he visited as a Visiting Officer.
Â
Following the Meeting, the Brethren and Visitors retired to the Festive Board where Traditional Faggots, Mash and Greens followed by Apple Pie and Custard was offered and enjoyed
