St George's Day Celebrations Sunday April 28th

It promises to be an entertaining afternoon with sandwiches, cakes, scones and

entertainment from the Coventry Mummers who will also be performing the traditional mummers play, St. George.

Mummers' plays are folk plays, dating back to the Middle Ages, and performed by troupes of amateur actors, traditionally all male, known as Mummers.  Historically, Mummers' plays consisted of informal groups of costumed amateur male actors who performed the plays on the streets, people’s homes or pub.

The Coventry Mummers, now in their 54th year, consist of some 15 male players who specialise in Mumming, performing at schools, colleges and festivals, with humour, colourful costumes and spectacular costumes. https://www.coventrymummers.org.uk
