Substantial Contribution from the Lodge of Justice 5092

On 14 December 2022, the charity sub-committee of the Lodge of Justice 5092 delivered a cheque for the amount of £50,000 to Janine Miller, Philanthropy Development Manager of the Acorns Children's Hospice, Wythall, Birmingham. This commendable contribution came to fruition following the loss of W Bro Claude Woodhouse who had donated this amount in his will to be used for charitable purposes at the lodge's discretion.

The initial contact with the organisation was made on 14 November 2022. Senior Acorn's personnel were present to discuss possible options concerning the use of this donation. It was agreed that this would be used towards refurbishment and enlargement of a family care suite for parents to stay overnight, especially when an 'end of life' was imminent for their children.

Having received the cheque, Janine Miller commented:

Your support will make a real and lasting difference to the children and families we care for – many of whom see Acorns as a lifeline.
